Frequently asked questions.

Straight answers about how BuildSurely works for homeowners and builders.

General

What is BuildSurely?

A construction payment assurance platform. It structures the money side of a building project around agreed stages, so both parties can see what was agreed, what has been done, what has changed, what has been approved and what has been paid.

Is BuildSurely an escrow service?

No. BuildSurely runs the project workflow, approvals and record. Project funds are handled by a regulated payment partner.

What kind of projects is it for?

Residential building work in the UK, such as extensions, loft conversions, renovations, kitchens, bathrooms, roofing and landscaping.

Is it available now?

We are in early access. You can register interest through the early-access page.

Homeowners

Do I need to know about construction?

No. Each stage has plain-English conditions agreed up front, and you review evidence against them.

Can I use BuildSurely with a builder I have already chosen?

Yes. Invite them when you create your project. They review and accept the stages with you.

What if I haven't chosen a builder yet?

You can create a stage plan and ask builders to quote against it, which makes quotes easier to compare.

When do I pay?

The prototype assumes project funding is arranged in line with the agreed payment structure. Eligible stage payments move into processing after the required approval, subject to the live payment partner's controls and terms.

Builders

How do I join?

Sign up directly or accept an invitation from a homeowner. You will need your business details, verification and payment set-up.

Can I see funding before I start?

The product is designed to show the relevant funding status for each stage or project, so you can see where the agreed payment arrangement stands before committing labour and materials.

Can I use it from site?

Yes. Submitting a stage, uploading photos and certificates, and checking payment status all work from your phone.

How do variations work?

Propose the extra work in the project with a price and reason. Once approved, the project value updates and any associated funding requirement is shown before the work proceeds.

Money and payments

Who holds the project funds?

The proposed model uses a regulated payment partner to receive and process relevant project funds. The exact partner and safeguarding model are being selected and will be disclosed before transactional launch.

Is payment guaranteed?

No platform can guarantee a building project. BuildSurely makes funding, approvals and payments visible and structured for both of you.

What does processing mean?

A stage has been approved and its payment instruction is progressing through the payment process. It changes to paid only when the relevant transaction state confirms completion.

Changes and disagreements

What if the work isn't right?

Ask for changes on the specific condition that isn't met. The builder fixes it and resubmits.

What if we can't agree?

Either party can escalate formally. The live service will define an evidence window and contractual resolution route, with any payment action following the applicable agreement and payment-partner controls.

What if the other person stops replying?

Reminders go out, waiting time is shown to both parties and support can step in. Silence never counts as approval.
